The Indigenous Community Health Centre is a partnership between the Port Alberni Friendship Centre, Port Alberni Primary Care Network, Island Health, and the BC Ministry of Health to enhance primary health care services in the region.
This is a modern, purpose-built space designed to provide culturally safe, holistic, and comprehensive care. You will be part of a team tasked with reducing barriers to healthcare and improving longitudinal outcomes for the Indigenous community and beyond.

We are looking for nurse practitioners who thrive in diverse clinical environments and value relationship-based medicine. Your practice will include:

- Mental Health and Addictions Medicine: The MHSU Clinic will provide specialized primary care services to people living with complex mental health and/or substance use challenges.
Community Information:
Port Alberni – located on the unceded and traditional territories of the Hupačasath and Tseshaht First Nations is Vancouver Island’s central community carved by glaciers, sheltered by mountains and surrounded by a beautiful ecosystem. The community features a temperate climate and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with year-round opportunities for hiking, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking and ecotourism. The city of Port Alberni includes local talents, private galleries and Indigenous art to create a vibrant art scene. For children entering elementary and secondary school, education options are available through School District 70 or other private alternatives. This community has a perfect blend of natural living and communal support.
