Role and Facility Information

The Port Alice Health Centre has an opening for a Family Physician (0.3 FTE) to join a team of dedicated health care professionals providing primary care services to a community of 1,200 residents. The successful candidate will have a full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Port Alice Health Centre services includes Emergency, General Radiology, Laboratory, Mental Health, Public Health and Home Nursing Care.

Port Alice is the gateway to the rugged and pristine west coat, and is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. The community enjoys a full array of services including shopping, library, excellent restaurants and a fully equipped recreational complex.

Recruitment Incentive - $20,000 (pro-rated for less than full time),Relocation Costs Reimbursement - up to a maximum of $20,000, Annual Flat Fee - $35,480.82, Fee Premium - 23.38% on service contract, Rural CME $1,320 for 2 years or less in community, $3,520 in years 3 & 4 years to a maximum of $5,720 after 4 years.

Community Information

The community of Port Alice is located in the northern region of Vancouver Island. Commercial fishing and salmon hatcheries form the economic base for the community, which boasts a fully equipped recreational complex, hockey and curling rinks and an indoor swimming pool. Other recreational activities in the area include boating, fishing, hiking, kayaking, and golf. There are a variety of shops and services available including a grocery store, a hardware store, bank, restaurants, a library, postal services and high speed Internet.

Port Alice is accessible by highway. The nearest airport with regular service to Vancouver and other major centres is in Port Hardy, which is approximately 50 km to the northeast. There are approximately 1,200 people living in the Port Alice area which enjoys reasonable housing costs.
