About the Clinic The clinic provides same-day care within 12–24 hours for patients who require urgent medical attention but do not need emergency department services. Common conditions treated include: • Sprains & minor injuries • Cuts requiring care • High fevers • Minor infections • Other urgent but non-emergency concerns The centre also supports attachment to a family physician through the Island Health provincial attachment system. Flexible Scheduling Start Date: ASAP (Flexible) Longitudinal Care • 2-3 Physicians working together • Monday – Friday; 0800 – 1600 Urgent Care Services • Open 7 days per week all year; 0800 – 2000, including weekends and statutory holidays • Flexible shifts available • 3-hour shifts or longer • Ideal for physicians seeking schedule flexibility and work-life balance Remuneration: UPCC Service Contract-attractive compensation package with service contract positions in the urgent primary care clinic • Payment will now be at contract base rate of $198.48 per hour • Additional $25 per hour will be applied to direct patient care hours for evenings (18:00 and later) and weekends/holidays Overhead: No overhead payments are required Community Information: Nanaimo, an exciting urban community with a breathtaking waterfront, provides an opportunity to enjoy an active exciting lifestyle with a multitude of year-round recreational opportunities including golf, mountain biking and walking trails, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing, or dive to explore three artificial reefs created by wrecks sunk in the harbour. In winter, both downhill and cross-country skiing can be enjoyed at Mount Washington, just 1.5 hours north.
