Role and Facility Information
The Family Practitioner will work out of the Cortes Health Centre and provide general primary care to Cortes Island residents. Work will provide longitudinal attachment and culturally safe access to care. FP will provide the year-over-year increase to targeted attachment goals. Direct and indirect patient care will support consultations, examinations, urgent medical access, same day access, addictions medicine, medical procedures, primary reproductive care, chronic disease management, on-going monitoring and follow up care, and other duties. Benefits: May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: - Recruitment Incentive: $20,000 (full-time) - Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from) - Fee Premium: 16.07% - Annual Flat Fee: $24,896.16 - Rural CME: starting at $1,320/annum 2 years or less in the community, increasing to $3,520/annum in year 3 & 4 to a maximum of $5,720/annum after 4 years. Community Information: Cortes is a beautiful remote Northern Gulf Island, two ferries away from Campbell River. The island has a vibrant community of approximately 1000 permanent residents, with many more seasonal residents. The Klahoose First Nations are based in Squirrel Cove, and there is a public school for primary to Grade 8. There are plenty of nature and recreation opportunities with lovely hiking trails, beaches, lakes and protected forests. Home to Hollyhock retreat centre, as well as the Gorge Marina, we get a lot of visitors coming from near and far. The Cortes clinic is operated by the Cortes Community Health Association in a lovely, modern clinic space with 2 clinic rooms, a PCP office, a nurses room, a remote pharmacy and a treatment space (for emergency use and minor procedures) with 2 beds.
