Role and Facility Information
Family Physician Opportunity at Foundry Vancouver Granville (FVG)
Reporting to the FVG Medical Director, the family physician provides episodic, enhanced/specialized, and longitudinal care within an interdisciplinary team. This is a part-time position, with 0.2 FTE and up to 0.5 FTE available, in an outpatient community setting.
Qualifications:
- Registered (Full) in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.
- Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
- Medical indemnity coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
Skills and Abilities:
- High level of clinical skill and competence, particularly in:
- Reproductive health, including sexual health and STI prevention and treatment
- Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), or willingness to learn to prescribe OAT
- Gender-affirming care, including hormone and surgical care planning
- Common physical and emotional health issues in young people
- Child and adolescent physical, psychological, and social development
- Harm reduction and health promotion strategies
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Ethical, legal, and confidentiality issues in caring for young people
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assist others in developing analytical thought processes
- Ability to navigate interdisciplinary issues involving professional and resource allocation problems
- Willingness to contribute to educational activities for colleagues and health professionals in training

Our collaborative team at FVG includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, counselors, occupational/rehab services, peer support, and administrative staff. At FVG, family physicians have access to shared care consultation with one of the psychiatrists on-site.
