Overview: Join our team at the Arbutus Medical Clinic as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in primary care network services. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients in a small healthcare facility located in downtown Sechelt, just 5-minutes by car from Sechelt Hospital. As a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and community resources to deliver patient centered care. This is an incredible opportunity to live and work in a mild climate with abundant natural, oceanfront beauty and outdoor activities (hiking, skiing, kayaking, whale watching, biking, camping and more). Key Responsibilities: 1. Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical exams, medical histories, and diagnostic tests, to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans. 2. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes and programs effectiveness. 3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality protocols. 4. Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills, staying abreast of current evidence-based practices and healthcare trends. 5. Manage acute and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, and initiate referrals to specialists or other healthcare professionals as necessary. 6. Provide patient education and counselling on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-management strategies. 7. Provide full scope primary health care services including health promotion and illness prevention, primary care for minor or episodic illness, chronic disease management, management and coordination of patient care, primary reproductive care, primary mental health and substance use (MHSU) services, support of the terminally ill, coordination and access to rehabilitation; support for hospital, home, rehab and long-term care facilities where permitted or appropriate, multi-disciplinary team planning, clinical administrative services, both in the patients home, in Arbutus Medical Clinic, hospital or other facility. 8. Each full-time nurse practitioner will assume a patient panel of 400 patients in year 1, 650 patients in year 2, and 800 patients in year 3. Qualifications: • Master’s degree in nursing with specialization as a Nurse Practitioner • Current registration and licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) from a recognized regulatory body • Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team. • Commitment to providing patient-centered care and promoting health equity within the community. Benefits: • Competitive salary. The salary for a full-time PCN NP is $171,533 (Yr 1); $177,251 (Yr 2); $182,968 (Yr 3). • $6500/yr incentive for Patient Attachment System and Panel Management. • An overhead amount of $75,000 per 1.0 FTE is provided through the PCN. • Continuing professional development funds of $5000, licensing fees coverage, can be accessed through NNPBC program under NP Funding. • Role is eligible for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program (up to $40,000 in savings). - Canada Student Loan forgiveness for family doctors and nurses - How much you could receive - Canada.ca • Practice sharing and sub-contracted or locum coverage options are supported through Arbutus Medical Clinic recruitment. About Us: Established in 2005, the Arbutus Medical Clinic is a small healthcare facility nestled in downtown Sechelt, conveniently just a 5-minute drive from Sechelt Hospital. Currently, the clinic is supported by two Medical Office Assistants who assist two family physicians. The physicians are available Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 4:30pm. Our scheduling system includes same-day appointment slots, reserved for our patients or walk-ins. Our MedAccess EMR allows for flexible scheduling tailored to each doctor's practice preferences. Located in a charming, renovated rancher, Arbutus features a cozy waiting room, a front office, and four exam rooms, three of which are suitable for minor procedures, and all equipped with windows. Additionally, there's a small kitchen area equipped with a microwave, grill, coffee machine, fridge, and snacks for staff. The clinic easily accommodates up to four full-time healthcare providers. Outside, there is dedicated staff parking and a staff-only entry accessed through a garden adorned with cherry, apple, and plum trees. During the summer, a covered south-facing patio offers a pleasant spot for staff to enjoy lunch and fresh air. Arbutus Medical Clinic has taken steps to reduce its environmental footprint by opting to reprocess medical equipment and minimizing the use of disposable instruments. Centrally situated in Sechelt, the clinic is within walking distance of a mid-sized mall, grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and scenic oceanfront pathways.
