Role and Facility Information
The Comox Valley is a fantastic place to live, and practice family medicine. We have a congenial medical community with a wide range of specialists to support us. The recreational and lifestyle opportunities are superb. We have all the amenities and conveniences of a larger centre with the advantages of living in a smaller city. This is an opportunity to take over an established part-time family practice (and build on the existing patient panel to turn it into a full-time practice if you wish). You would be joining seven other physicians in a busy full service primary care practice that is part of the Primary Care Network. We are a teaching practice affiliated with UBC. We have a full-time nurse and a dedicated team of MOA’s. For this part-time position, the hours and days are flexible. Current days of work are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for a total of 4 x 4 hour sessions per week. If more clinic time is desired this could be negotiated. This could become a full-time position with such optional extras such as long-term care patients, inpatient hospital call rota, and OR assists. Obstetric care is optional, and there could be an opportunity to join the Highland Maternity group. I am open to creative arrangements such as one month on, one month off, or 3 months on, 3 months off, especially while a potential replacement decides if the position will suit them. I could be available for holiday coverage or maternity/paternity coverage. Status: Both Part-Time & Full-Time (very Flexible) Start Date: Summer 2024 or whenever a suitable time can be arranged. Location: Comox Shift/Hours of Work: For this part-time position, the hours and days are flexible. Current days of work are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for a total of 4 x 4 hour sessions per week. If more clinic time is desired this could be negotiated. Overhead: Billed per half-day session, currently 4 sessions/wk Benefits: May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Recruitment Incentive - $10,000; Fee Premium – 6.93%; Annual Flat Fee - $10,516.77; Rural CME - $2,200/annum years 3&4 in the community to maximum $4,400/annum after 4 years. Relocation: may be eligible up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on funding availability and on location relocating from) Rural Practice Subsidiary Agreement - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca) Community Information: The Comox Valley is one of the fastest growing communities in BC, and with good reason. We have all the amenities, business and conveniences of a larger centre, but with the perks - community feel, lack of traffic, free parking! - of a smaller town. This region has endless opportunities for outdoor exploration and recreation, and boasts truly incredible natural beauty, to be enjoyed all year long. The rapid growth of this area brings with it a real vitality, as well as an ever-growing list of progressive businesses, such as craft breweries, boutiques, restaurants, allied health clinics and more.
