Role and Facility Information
This position is for a full-service, bilingual French-English family physician (excluding obstetrics or hospital work), providing care in a Francophone community health centre within an interdisciplinary team approach.
This role reports to the Executive Director and the Medical Director. Our health care team includes physicians, several registered and licensed practical nurses, social workers, and well trained and friendly support staff. They offer an interdisciplinary approach to health care, and encourage patients to be active participants in their health as well as to take responsibility for their own health status. The ongoing education of medical personnel is an important aspect of the clinic’s responsibility to the community.
• Providing team-based longitudinal primary care in French along with an interdisciplinary Francophone team (FP/NP/RN/SW).
• Providing trauma-informed care to clients with multiple complex health care needs (i.e. HIV, Hep C, mental health/substance use) and psychosocial complexity.
• Working a predictable weekday schedule as well as participating in a call schedule which includes some evening, weekend and statutory holiday coverage.
• Providing substance use services, assessments, supports, and opiate agonist treatment.
• Providing outreach to the Francophone community as needed within the interdisciplinary team.
• Providing learning opportunities and support for Francophone students/residents.
• Taking part in quality improvement initiatives to improve client outcomes.
• Taking part in interdisciplinary team engagement events/opportunities.
• Taking part in educational opportunities to advance practice and client outcomes.
Qualifications
• Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) - Full (or eligibility)
• Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) - Mandatory
• Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
• Current Opiate Agonist Treatment prescriber exemption or willingness to obtain an exemption is an asset.
• Current methadone exception and Suboxone certification or willingness to obtain same.
Skills
• Ability to speak French and English mandatory.
• Commitment and ability to implement the CHC’s strategic goals, mission, vision and values.
• Health promotion and prevention strategies.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds and/or with diverse cultural beliefs and practices.
• A background in working with youth, LGBTQ2S+, mental health, addictions, fragile families, refugees and frail elderly an asset.
• Trauma informed practice and culturally safe care for Indigenous peoples
• A desire to serve complex clients.
• An interest in supporting chronic disease management models of service delivery.
• Comprehensive family practice background.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team setting.
